Sudeeps’ second directional venture #73 Shantinivas is a painstaking family entertainer with a meaningful message. Even though it’s a remake of an Old Hindi hit, Sudeep as an actor & director has excelled at every point of the film and has succeeded in presenting the film in his own style. A strong hold on the script, eminent narration and dialogues, first-grade comedy and top class performance by all the artists is what makes this film a must watch for all the Kannada Film goers.
We fail to remember tiny happiness and go in search of hefty one’s and if failed we feel depressed so, try and learn to enjoy thousands of minute happiness which can give more satisfaction to us than very few larger joys in life. This is what Sudeep tries to convey in this film. The introduction song by Shivrajkumar and closure message by Vishnuvardhan about the theme of the film adds more flavor to the film.
Few people say ‘it’s a remake so, why to watch a remake movie?’.. They may be right if it is a masala movie with all commercial ingredients But, I think there is nothing wrong in remaking a meaningful cinema. Hats off to Sudeep, his technical team and all the artists for delivering a neat family entertainer for the audience.

Nice review, is the movie available in hindi/english??
srik,
Thanks for your good words..
cyberkitty,
Thank you. Same movie is available in Hindi. Movie name is Bawarchi.
I had a hunch you were talking about bawarchi. As for remaking of meaningful cinema, I have to agree, but under a given that there be a tangible difference in the direction of the movie. I dont want to watch a ditto copy of a movie I have already watched. After all, a movie is just a story and you can tell it numerous ways…
hi anirudh, yes. I also feel the same. It’s bit boring to watch the ditto copy of the movie. But, When it comes to ShanthiNivas, i found lot of difference in the narration style, picturization & performances. So, i can say this as an much improved version of the original movie.
