I was fortunate enough to meet & discuss few rousing facts about blogging with Mr. Amith Agarwal, India’s first professional blogger, during the recently held Barcamp at IIM Bangalore. Amith also gave a session on blogging which provided a platform for all the enthusiastic blogloreans to put forward their thoughts on blogging. That was a pretty edifying session both for the bloggers & for people who are thinking of entering the blolgosphere. You can read more about Amith Agarwal hereMet Amit Agarwal

Error ! ! Another blog is already hosted at this address
September 11th, 2007 — Blogs
After registering my custom domain , i was just trying to host my blog on that domain but, to my surprise i started getting an error “Another blog is already hosted at this address “. This error from blogger is bit interesting and also bit confusing. I started thinking like when i have a domain registered in my name, how it is possible for other’s to host their blog on that address. I was getting this error even after adding the CNAME record to my domain as mentioned in the Blogger. I thought of waiting for few more days hoping that this error get’s resolved as it may take some time for CNAME record updation. But the error continued to haunt me like anything.
Then i started googling to find out the actual cause and read some related articles. But except few, most of the replies for this query were misleading. One thing that i came to know from this was, there are lot of fellow bloggers who are facing the same problem and they are also in search of the right fix. Finally I was able to fix the problem and thought of posting it here hoping that it will be helpful for some one looking for the same. The problem stems for the Google Apps.
Following are the steps that one needs to follow to fix the problem,
1) Login in to your Domain registrars’ control panel and add a CNAME record with name as ‘www’ and value as ‘ghs.google.com’
2) Login in to the Google Apps for your domain or create a new account if you don’t have one already
3) From the Dashboard of Google Apps for your Domain, Go to the ‘Web Pages’ section and select ‘Disable Web Pages’
4) Now Login to the blogger and in the Custom domain settings page, give your Domain address. Your problem will be likely to be solved by this time.
